The first day will cover fundamentals of DNA testing (including biological basics, testing procedures, and how to read a lab file) and basic statistics (focusing on the various methods used to estimate the significance of a DNA “match” and the use of Probabilistic Genotyping Software). The second day will focus on issues in DNA analysis (transfer and contamination) and litigating DNA cases (including an overview of past and present DNA challenges and trial strategies).
