Featuring PAUL M. RASHKIND Chief of the Appellate Division for the Federal Public Defender, Southern District of Florida.

During this multimedia experience, you will see and hear from many of those who contributed to the Supreme Court’s decision in Gideon v. Wainwright: Clarence Earl Gideon, the Bay County prosecutor and trial judge (in court as they were at Gideon’s trial), Abe Fortas and his legendary law clerk John Hart Ely, the lawyers for Florida and Alabama who argued against Fortas, Louie Wainwright, and others. See the scene of the alleged crime, Gideon’s first trial, and hear the key moments of the Supreme Court argument. You will be transported back in time to the early 1960’s, then the turn of the century, and then return to the present. In keeping with Florida theme parks, you will experience this without ever leaving your seat.

Please join us! We have also applied to the Florida Bar for CLE credit.

Location: The Sorosis Club, 501 E. Livingston Orlando, FL 32803

Time: Doors open at 11:30. Presentation to begin at 12:00
